Yesterday I celebrated by 12th year anniversary working for Stream. I look back to the day when I started and I started my career just like everyone else. I started as an agent. Back then I thought that I would never last this long but I did. We have a good culture in our company. You can feel that people genuinely care about you.
In my 12 years of stay I have not only accomplished a lot in my career but also in my personal life. I was able to afford to build a house for my mother, buy a house of my own, send my youngest brother to college, get married, invest, travel the world and buy things that sometimes I feel that I do not really need. The biggest thing that I have done so far is being able to help the less fortunate. We built houses for the homeless in Cebu, gave foot wear to children in my hometown in Batangas, made a lot of children happy in the many orphanages that we visited, walked with my team in the streets of Baclaran to make kids smile and recently along with our company's executive team, we did our little part to help the victims of typhoon Yolanda.

People asked me why I stayed this long at Stream, and I say why not? They also asked me what my secret was for surviving this long in our company and I tell them, I did nothing special. I went to work everyday, I was never late, never absent, I never received a single CITE form, when the streets are flooded I am there. I studied to be better at what I do. I did my homework, I worked hard when everyone else is sleeping and most of all, I always made it a point to think about what I can give to the company rather than what I can take. I am really happy that I stayed this long at Stream.

I always get teary eyed when I see the monument that was built for us, the call center professionals that started it all in Eastwood. When I look at it and read the caption, it never fails to give me goose bumps. Because I was there when all of it started. I was there taking phone calls with the many talented leaders of our industry. I am proud that I work for a call center. I am proud that I worked for Stream. Because if I worked in the airline industry I wouldn't be who I am now.

All I can say to those who look down on people who work for the call centers is, the Philippines will not be what is now if it weren't for us. There will no BGC, no Eastwood, no Nuvali, no IT park in Cebu, no 24/7 restos, no 7/11s in Bacolod and no jobs for thousands of Filipinos. Stream and eTelecare played a big part in this solar system of call centers. Stream was the sun where HSBC, Convergys, Teletech, 24/7, Accenture, Cognizant, Dell, and all others got their solar energy from. You will never find a call center without a Stream/eTelecare person in their house. So I am proud. Proud to be here where it all started, proud to be from Stream. Happy 12th anniversary to ME and thank youStream Ph for giving me the opportunity to be more.#ibelieveinStream
